The Charles T. Kirk Fife, Drum, and Bugle Corps performed at 120 bpm. The goal for Camp 2017 is to perform this exciting music as close to that tempo as possible as a full corps without losing control and clarity in technique, style, and expression.
Thus, for your audition recordings, please practice "World Turned Upside Down" (general audition for everybody) and "American Patrol" (if you wish to be considered for ensemble) with a metronome and gradually increase your tempo toward 120 bpm. Once you believe you have pushed yourself as far as you can, record and submit your auditions. Please do not worry about your personal tempo for "World" at this time. You still have over three months before camp!
For ensemble auditions, your tempo will be a consideration, but do not gamble that tempo will be more important than your ability to execute the written page.
